With a fully lit 1,500 m² arena, six comfortable stables, a well-equipped tack room, and hectares of forest and private tracks, the equestrian centre at La Garangeoire offers riders the very best environment. You may meet Câline, Nutela, Native, Lover, or the adorable Shetland ponies such as Légende, Arabot and Lex’us. Every rider is matched with a suitable mount, chosen according to both level and preference.
Horse and pony rides: a different way to discover La Garangeoire
Setting off on horseback or on a pony along the estate’s woodland paths, riding past the lakes, crossing the forest, or following the shaded trails of the park… it is one of the most magical ways to experience the Vendée. All rides are supervised by a state-qualified instructor, who adapts the route to suit all levels. Whether you’re travelling with family or friends, the centre offers pony rides for children, private or group lessons, and beginner sessions.
Pony initiations delight the youngest riders, often accompanied by a parent for a gentle stroll. Children from age 6 can also take part in pony games, a playful introduction to horse riding through fun, small-group activities.
Animal-assisted sessions in the heart of nature
More than just a riding centre, La Garangeoire also hosts animal-assisted therapy and activities. Designed for all audiences, these sessions are led by Emmanuelle, a specialised educator holding a university diploma in “Human-Animal Relationships”. Two types of activities are offered: Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT), which targets specific goals (socialisation, motor skills, language…), and Animal-Assisted Activities (AAA), dedicated to well-being and shared moments with horses and ponies.
Held in a peaceful natural setting, these sessions reflect the very essence of La Garangeoire: a campsite where quality of life, closeness to nature, and respect for living beings guide every initiative.
A highlight of the summer season
During the high season, especially in July and August, the equestrian centre comes alive with holidaying children. The instructors work closely with the campsite’s Kids’ Club to offer varied activities: mounted games, grooming workshops, group treks, small competitions… Guests come for an experience, but often leave with a new passion!
